At church we had a dessert contest this evening. This was my entry. Sorry the picture is out of focus.

These are my family's traditional birthday cake. We can choose anything we want, but we almost always choose this.

This is a really easy recipe, so...

1 cup white sugar
1 cup corn syrup
1 cup peanut butter
6 cups rice crispies
6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
6 oz. butterscotch chips

Put sugar and corn syrup in a pot and heat. When the mixture just starts to boil, turn off the heat and add the peanut butter. Stir until smooth. Add the rice crispies and mix.

Put in a 9x13 pan and smooth with the back of a pan. Note, that you have to do this before it cools too much or you won't be able to get it smooth enough. Initally the mixture will stick to the back of the spoon, but after a while it will stop sticking.

In a double boiler or a microwave, melt the chips together, stirring until smooth. Make sure not to scorch the chips or it will taste awful. I usually take it out of the microwave and stir it every 30 seconds. When everything is melted, spread it over the rice crispies.

Chill the rice crispies until the chocolate is set.

A note of warning on this recipe. If you cook the sugar for too long it will be too tough to eat. I literally had to cut one batch with a chisel.
